Munroe has recently acquired the da Vinci® Si System, the latest generation da Vinci System, and an update to Munroe's da Vinci robotics program. Munroe’s da Vinci robotics program began in 2005,  and since then the medical center has provided care to over 1,800 men with prostate cancer.

For the ninth consecutive year Munroe has earned the Patient Safety Excellence Award recognition from HealthGrades, making the medical center one of only 10 hospitals in the country to accomplish this distinction.

Receiving the 2012 HealthGrades Patient Safety Excellence Award™ indicates that Munroe’s patient safety ratings are in the top 5% of U.S. hospitals. Munroe is one of only 263 hospitals in the country to receive this designation. Munroe is also the only hospital across Marion, Lake, Sumter, Citrus and Alachua County to receive the HealthGrades Patient Safety Excellence Award for 9 consecutive years (2004-2012).

Men’s Health Month is celebrated in June with Men's Health Week 2012 held from June 11 through 17 across the country with screenings, health fairs, media appearances, and other health education and outreach activities. This month we heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys.

June gives the opportunity to encourage men and boys to seek regular medical advice and early treatment for disease and injury.
